“Tumbling, burning with white-hot fire, I plunged into the depths of the abyss.”

sr1The latest SPJ AirPlay update has come out, centered around an off-record conversation that I had with Michael Koretzky of the SPJ, Allum Bokhari, Mark Ceb, and John Smith.

It wasn’t a very pleasant conversation, to say the least, centered around my actions.

If you want to yell at me for it, this is the place to do it. Let loose; I’ll read it all.

  1. I understand your frustration, but cooler heads need to prevail. Airplay is an incredible opportunity and it would be a shame to walk away after all you’ve accomplished in getting this far.

I really hope you can work this out with Koretzky. Best of luck.

If you’re going to lose your shit when Koretzsky and the “neutral” panellists bait you in such a fashion, it’s probably best that you don’t go. For of course they will; the whole thing is a trap.

However, if you feel you can rein it in for a couple of hours on the day, I’d very much like you to be there. I don’t think any of the other panellists represents me in the way you could.

You’ve too many people, the voiceless, who are counting on you to represent them and their interests at Airplay now. I vote that you still go, but remember that you are there to represent a voice of calm, reason, and rationality, not the sort of histrionics and outrage usually demonstrated by SJWs.

Use what has happened here as a launchpad to learn for the real thing. Good luck.

I say go. To me it seems as if Koretzky is trying his best to provoke GG to attack him. GG has been portrayed as such a monstrosity by our detractors, who have been endlessly covered by the press. If he can show that you can be a complete ass to GG without suffering anything other than harsh words then the narrative collapses.

In the case of the panel, you and Ceb should be on the afternoon panel, while Milo and Sommers be the morning panel. Why? The latter are not really gamers and thus would be better able to explain it to a non-gamer audience. Since the afternoon session deals with “how to cover stories like this better” the specialized information that you and Mark have may be more useful.
